Finally! An excuse to rub my belly.

I think I must be the luckiest person in the universe.

Okay, maybe not. But I’m in the top 5 for sure.

I first caught wind of this extraordinary quality of mine when in 2nd or 3rd grade, my Dad and I were taking a tour of Nickelodeon studios in Florida. They had a pretend game show for tour participants where one lucky audience member was chosen to be “slimed”.

Can you imagine the sheer glory, the utter pleasure, of having gallons of green glop piped in from who-knows-where dumped over your head in front of OTHER PEOPLE?! Like every other kid there I was on my feet in an instant.

“Pick me, pickme, ooo, oo, me!!!”

And what do you know, they did pick me. I got in one of those jumpsuit things “backstage,” got slimed, and I have the certificate to prove it.

A couple years later (or possibly before, my memory’s a bit shoddy on the timing), my mom entered me in a contest at our church to win a free ticket to go see the Pope at Camden Yards. And of our congregation of 900 or so people (trust me, everyone entered. It was the freakin’ POPE.), my name was chosen along with about 30 others.

(Side story: My grandma flew up from New Orleans just to watch it on TV at our house while I was there in person. In hindsight, I totally should have given her the ticket. Not that she would have taken it, but it would have meant so much more to her then than it did or ever will mean to me now. But I was 7 and hey, FREE STUFF!)

Anyways, luck runs in my veins. If the Nickelodeon slime didn’t convince you, fine. But the Pope. Come on.

So it didn’t come as much of a surprise when Bridget Hanahan (aka @Yellaphant) informed me this morning that I had won the Etsy giveaway for a $25 gift certificate to Suzannemade‘s shop. Of course I did. (ps. I also won some Etsy gorgousness back in March as well from the Bright Side Project. Again, lucky.)

STILL, I’m thrilled.

So thrilled, in fact, that I’ve decided to attempt a similar feat on this here blog. That’s right. I’m currently in contact with some of my very favorite Etsy artists to see if they might be interested in doing some giveaways as well. Because hey, FREE STUFF! So keep your eyeballs peeled for that.

(I also have to mention that Ms. Yellaphant also named me last night a blogger that she would KILL ZOMBIE CHICKENS FOR. That’s right, you just read a blog post that mentioned Nickelodeon, the Pope AND zombie chickens all in one. If that doesn’t make your Wednesday then I give up. I. give. up.)

Many thanks to Bridget and Suzanne. Can’t wait to get shopping!
