So long, Coolidge Corner.

I was one of the lucky ones who had today, Columbus Day, off. But instead of going apple picking like I’d hoped (plans fell through) I ended up stuck at home with a mountain of things to take care of.

You see, we’re moving in a couple weeks. This time it’s really happening. And so there’s de-cluttering to do and a moving company to book and utilities to notify and address changes to make and as I usually do when faced with an overloaded to-do list, I started to get anxious.

But instead of pushing myself to start cleaning out the closet, I put my boots on and let myself wander down the street with my camera in hand. It was a pretty fall day and I wanted a chance to appreciate our happy little neighborhood before we leave it.

Grabbed some coffee.

Stopped into my favorite place in all the land.

And let myself stay.

And play.

(By the by, is there any sight in the world more beautiful than shelf upon shelf of books?)

Then I treated myself to some shopping.

And even let myself bring some things home (these beauties are from the Gap).

It was somewhat bittersweet. Coolidge Corner is one of the most fun, lively neighborhoods in the Boston area, and it’s only as I’m leaving that I find myself really appreciating it. The convenience of having shopping, grocery stores, a movie theater, coffee shops, restaurants, and of course, my favorite bookstore, all within walking distance, can’t be matched.

But for us, it’s time to grow up and move on. Time to buy. Time to exchange location for space. Delicious space. Wonderful space.

Still. I’m going to miss it.

Aww, I lived in Coolidge Corner for 3 years and miss it so much sometimes!! Brookline Booksmith is by-far one of my favorite places too, I always lose track of time in there :)

Beautiful colors! I love mint Julep but boy do the prices kill me!

    Great photos!

I feel the same way about Mint Julep. Hence why I look there, buy on sale at Gap. :)

My one splurge at M.J. was this dress and it was totally worth it: http://www.flickr.com/photos/shelleybeans/3600655025/.

  3. Is it wrong to miss a grocery store? Because I sorely miss Trader Joe’s. The closest one to me is in New Mexico. And to think I used to live a short walk, okay it was a long walk but it was a gorgeous walk through Brookline, to one. Sigh.

That whole not appreciating things until you leave them? Totally guilty. One day I’m ranting and raving that I absolutely cannot spend one more second in our apartment, and now that we’re actually setting plans into motion to leave it, all I can think about it how wonderful our apartment, street, and town is.
