Our office: Before and After.

It’s here! The day when I finally unveil our home office to you. I know I’ve been going on and on about it for months, but it’s really been quite the labor of love and a gradual acquiring of all the pieces we wanted in here. It started off as a storage room, really. As [...]

Perks.

This past weekend we took one of the biggest steps yet along the road of homeownership: we bought patio furniture. (And a grill!) For many reasons, we had been majorly dragging our feet when it came to getting deck furniture, the main one being that it is so. flippin’. expensive. Seriously, have you checked out [...]

Homeownership.

So homeownership is a bitch. (Hey, why craft up some fancy introduction when that’s what I really want to say?) You’d think moving into your own place that you actually own would be the cat’s pajamas but let me tell you: it is SO NOT. In the beginning, sure, we were punch drunk on homeownership. I remember [...]

One week later.

It’s hard to believe that it was only one week ago today that we found out the awful news and spent the day in the ER. I feel like months have passed since then. Maybe I just feel that much older. I took (or was given, I should say), this entire week to myself to [...]

Busy brain, office ideas.

My apologies for that short blip in our regularly scheduled blog posts. I’ve been taking some time to think and adjust and rest. I’ve been working on, get this, not making myself feel guilty for taking time to watch Mad Men or read Anna Karenina (which I’ve been whittling away at for nearly six months [...]

Year gone by.

New Year’s Eve, it snowed. The entire weekend following, it snowed. Not so much snow that you couldn’t go out, but just enough to make you kind of not want to. Somehow I think it was nature’s way of saying, if you don’t take some time out to reflect on the year that’s just passed, [...]

On making dents. The good kind.

I was planning a whole post for tonight about the move. About how stressful it can be, the way it forces you to take stock of your entire life. And about how rewarding it can be, how unbelievably warm and comforting it can be to set up your new house and by extension, your new [...]

It’s official.

We’re homeowners. That’s it! Get out yer champagne (we certainly did) because we’re officially homeowners. We closed on Monday. Monday the 19th. Exactly one month to the day after our wedding (and also, coincidentally, my parents’ 25th wedding anniversary – Hi Mom! Hi Dad! Love you!). And honestly, while I feel great, while I’m proud [...]
